A pilot daughter from Mumbai flying the last flight of her air hostess mother has truly become one of the most uplifting stories of the recent time.

Daughter Ashrrita shared her incredibly moving story on social media and within hours of her tweet, the internet globally exploded with the Twitter Canada choosing it as one of its top moments on the microblogging site.

Sharing the story, Ashrrita wrote how it was her mother’s dream to be flown by her daughter on the last day of her service with Air India, India’s national carrier. She wrote, “So happy and honoured to be able to pilot the one flight that mattered. It was my mom’s dream to have me pilot her last flight as an Air Hostess with @airindiain 🙂 As she retires after her glorious 38 years of service, I will be carrying on with her legacy.”

The post, which had the photo of all cabin crew including her mother (holding flowers ), went viral with more 12,000 likes and 2,100 retweets. Users responded with overwhelming sentiments with many publicly admitting how the story had left them in tears.

Her employer, Air India, too tweeted, “#FlyAI : @caramelwings Our heartfelt wishes to your mother and you for this special flight when she passes the baton on to you to have the privilege of serving our passengers with dedication. The legacy lives on.”

Ashrrita also shared a video of her mother taking the last walk inside the cabin as a crew member filmed her using a mobile phone. The video ended with a colleague giving Ashrrita’s mother an emotional hug. She wrote, “For all of you who asked 🙂 that’s mom on her last flight as an operating cabin crew for @airindiain what a lovely day and what amazing passengers! So many best wishes and hugs ♥️ of course I was in the flight deck 🙂 #proud #grateful.”

The proud daughter had already informed her social media followers on Monday how she was going to fly the retirement flight of her mother the next day. She had written, “Guys, tomorrow I will be flying with my mother on her retirement day, when she gracefully operates her last flight as an Air Hostess with @airindiain after 38 years of service ? privileged to be her first officer tomorrow! #proud #grateful #happy.”

As expected, Ashrrita’s story is winning hearts on internet, not just in India but across the global. India’s former civil aviation minister, Praful Patel, wrote, “Some of the most heart warming and pleasant stories are the ones that happen in real life. Make your mother proud @caramelwings, best wishes to both of you!” On Twitter user wrote, “Lots of love to your mom and a special hug for you. Must be a proud moment for both of you.” Another user commented, “I am so happy after reading this Ashrrita, it brought such a big smile on my face. I haven’t known you much but this tweets makes me so proud of you and I can imagine how happy and proud your mother would have been. More power to you now and always girl.”

While Ashrrita has manged to express her joy publicly, no one quite knows just the pride her mother may have felt on being flown by her daughter on the last day of her service.
