Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma has found himself in a spot of bother after social media users began to give him grief for calling Sunny Leone ‘Italian pasta with hot sauce’ at least four times during his show over the weekend.
The pornstar-Bollywood actress appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show over the weekend. Kapil, arguably the most popular Indian comedian on TV, welcomed her in his own inimitable style when he told Sunny, “You are looking hot baby.”
What made him the target of social media users’ ire was his reaction to Krushna Abhishek’s comments on attempting to cook khichdi with Sunny, who had appeared on the show to promote her latest song. Many users were incensed that Kapil made several objectionable sexist comments about Sunny but rarely asked anything about her recent work.
One user, Pseudoidealist, wrote on Twitter, “Kapil Sharma is a cheapster. Uses cheap jokes & double entendre for humour. He nvr treats women with respect at his show. Men guests are shown wooed by females and women guests are flirted by him. That’s the only format of his show.”
Another user, Brigadier Vijay K Singh, commented, “Others and that’s the level of language with = comedy that’s his level of Incompetence!!!!! than calling Sunny Leone ‘Italian pasta’, 4 times Kapil Sharma was derogatory towards women.”
However, the famous comedian and TV host also received plenty of support from his fans, who felt that the outrage against their star was disproportionate. One fan Gurpreet Shehry wrote, “Paji, take care, the media will not let you live.” Another user Shashank Mishra wrote, “Just see how our news media is negativity heavy. They’ll just highlight -ve things always just to get views.”
Kapil Sharma was recently in the news after he complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his sense of humour.
The comedian, who went through prolonged depression after his show was taken off air by Sony TV due to falling TRPs, had made a comeback with the same show in December last year.
