Omar Abdullah’s ‘Salman Khan’ jibe on Vivek Oberoi playing Narendra Modi’s character in biopic

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday took a dig at Narendra Modi with ‘Salman Khan’ jibe after it emerged that Vivek Oberoi will be playing the lead role of the prime minister in his biopic.

Abdullah’s quirky social media post came hours after the first look of Vivek Oberoid as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was made public. In his tweet, Abdullah wrote, “Life is unfair Dr Manmohan Singh got someone of the calibre of Anupam Kher. Poor Modi ji has to settle for Vivek Oberoi. Salman Khan hota toh kya maza aata.

Salman Khan’s rivalry with Vivek Oberoi is well documented after the latter had publicly slammed him for threatening him over the phone. This was after Salman had reportedly split with Aishwarya Rai, who was later rumoured to be in a relationship with Vivek. At an award function, Vivek had even apologised to Salman with folded hands, but it failed to elicit the desired response from the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor.

Kher will be seen playing the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his upcoming film The Accidental Prime Minister, which is being promoted by the BJP. This had prompted the Congress to accuse the saffron party of financing Kher’s film ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The news of Vivek essaying Modi’s role in the latter’s biopic had prompted social media user to flood the microblogging site with jokes earlier this month. Directed by Omung Kumar and produced by Sandip Ssingh, the shooting of the film will start later this month.
