Mira Rajput’s prophecy comes true, Kabir Singh’s phenomenal success proves it’s Shahid Kapoor’s ‘time to shine’

After a string of failures at the box office, Shahid Kapoor has finally broken the jinx as Kabir Singh collected Rs 21.21 crore at the box office on the day of its release.   Padmaavat, which also starred Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, had made Rs 19 crore on the opening day. The success also meant that the actor’s wife, Mira Rajput, was spot on with her predictions about Shahid’s future career graph.

Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that Kabir Singh’s craze amongst the youth was on the rise and the film could make more money in the days to come. With the phenomenal collection of Rs 21.20 crore on the day of its release, Kabir Singh has also joined the elite club of the top five most successful films, released this year.

Salman Khan’s Bharat, released on Eid, had made Rs 42 crore on the first day of its release. At number two was Kalank, which collected Rs 21.60 crore on the first day, while Akshay Kumar’s Kesari’s earnings at the box office on the first was Rs 21.06 crore. Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt was placed at number fifth with a first day earning of Rs 19.40 crore.

Adarsh said that Kabir Singh was the ‘only film’ in the above list to have the traditional Friday release.

He wrote, “#KabirSingh is terrific on Day 1… Emerges Shahid Kapoor’s biggest opener [surpasses *Day 1* biz of #Padmaavat: ₹ 19 cr]… Biggest *non-holiday* opening day of 2019 [surpasses #TotalDhamaal: ₹ 16.50 cr]… Is a craze amongst the youth… Fri ₹ 20.21 cr. India biz.”

The success of Kabir Singh has left Shahid Kapoor ‘overwhelmed.’ He took to Instagram to thank his fans. He wrote, “Thank you for the overwhelming love. ”

Kabir Singh, which is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit film Arjun Reddy, also stars Kiara Advani in a lead role. The success of the film has made Mira Rajput’s prophecy come true. Shahid’s wife on Friday had predicted that this was her husband’s time to shine. She had written, “Aa zamane aazmaale rooth ta nahi. Faaslon se hausla ye toot’ta nahi (Oh World, come and test me, I am not going to feel bad. My courage is not going to break because of the distance).” Mira had concluded her social media post by stating just how proud she was of her husband adding that it was his time to shine. She wrote, “So proud of you baby. It’s your time to shine.”

The phenomenal success of Kabir Singh proves that Mira was spot on with her predictions.
