BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar-owned Republic TV on Wednesday broadcast what it called was a sting video of a UK-based Dal Khalsa man allegedly claiming to have supported Aam Aadmi Party in the last year’s assembly elections in Punjab.
Singh, according to Republic TV, claimed that his group had ‘campaigned, and even funded Aam Aadmi Party during the Punjab elections 2017.’ Later, the man appeared on Republic TV and said that ‘Aam Aadmi Party was just a tool’ adding that it was an ‘irrelevant party.’ He went on to say, “We used the AAP as tool to expose the political system and electoral machines.”
Singh of Dal Khalsa even claimed that AAP had won ’90 seats in Punjab’ in the 117-seat state assembly. The party led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had won 22 seats. The Congress with 77 seats had formed the government.
The channel, whose co-founder is Arnab Goswami, also broadcast a video of one of its representatives chasing Kejriwal’s deputy in the Delhi government, Manish Sisodia, for his reaction. Sisodia did not appear keen to respond to the Republic TV representative’s question and instead said, “Listen, you and your channel can never understand education, so please don’t talk.”
The representative from Republic TV persisted with his questions and told Sisodia that it ‘wasn’t about education’ adding that his party had been supported by a ‘front, which is breaking India.’ An angry Sisodia shot back, “We don’t do ‘dalali’ like your channel. We are unhappy with ‘dalal (pimp)’ channels like you.”
The man from Republic TV kept chasing him prompting Sisodia to repeat the same line ‘We don’t do ‘dalali’ like your channel…We don’t talk to pimp channels like you.’ This too did not have enough for Republic TV, whose man kept hounding Delhi’s deputy chief minister and repeated his question one more time.
Sisodia stopped to reply, “Your channel is run by ‘dalals.’ We are against Khalistan supporters but we are also dalals (pimps) like you.” Republic TV later played the video on loop calling it exclusive.
