The Bombay High Court will today pronounce its order in Arnab Goswami’s plea for an interim bail in the abetment to suicide case for which he had been arrested last Wednesday. Last week, Goswami’s lawyers including Harish Salve made desperate pleas seeking his immediate release from judicial custody. However the Bombay High Court Bench comprising Justice SS Shinde and MS Karnik reserved its order for later. The Bench will pronounce the order at 3 PM today.
Goswami has had to spend the fifth night in judicial custody after he was arrested from his residence in connection with the abetment of a suicide case. A local court in Alibaug had sent him to judicial custody until 18 November. On Sunday morning, the Maharashtra Police shifted him to Navi Mumbai’s Taloja jail on allegations of using a mobile phone in judicial custody.
Videos of a harassed Arnab Goswami crying for help in desperation while being taken to Navi Mumbai’s Taloja Jail has triggered a fresh debate over the Republic TV founder’s false sense of masculinity that he displayed from inside his TV studio. While many have detected a glaring irony in the sorry spectacle of Goswami projecting himself as being vulnerable, others sharpened their knives against the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly dumping the controversial anchor during his moment of adversity. Others compared his weakness to the grace and strength displayed by Rhea Chakraborty, whose arrest in the drug racket case was largely due to Goswami’s adverse TV coverage.
