US President Donald Trump is known for committing spelling and grammar gaffes while sharing posts on social media. As it emerged on Tuesday, her daughter Ivanka Trump is no better when it comes to the English language.
Ivanka on Tuesday took to Twitter to wish Boris Johnson on his election as the Conservative party leader and new Prime Minister of Britain. However, while wishing Johnson, Ivanka wrote ‘United Kingston’ instead of United Kingdom. Her tweet read, “Congratulations @BorisJohnson on becoming the next Prime Minister of the United Kingston.”
No sooner did she post her tweet, her timeline was flooded with memes and jokes with users poking fun at her perceived inability to spell the name of one of the most prominent countries in the world. Incidentally, the US has historically enjoyed a special relationship with the UK.
One user wrote, “I see you have your daddy’s spelling skills! Is there anyone in the family, who can form a sentence without spelling errors?” Another user wrote sarcastically, “Is the United Kingston next to Whales (Wales)?” “Surrey (sorry), but it’s actually the United Kingston Upon Thames,” wrote another Twitter user mockingly.
Kingston Upon Thames, also known as Kingston, is actually an area in the southwest part of London.
Faced with embarrassment, Ivanka deleted her earlier tweet and blamed it on ‘autocorrect’ for the gaffe. She wrote, “The perils of autocorrect!”But Twitterati was in no mood to believe her.
I tried typing United King and even United Kings…Kingston does NOT come up on autocorrect! See screenshots. Why is it so difficult for anyone in your family to admit that YOU made a mistake? pic.twitter.com/mXICK4XCVe

Kingdom. Autocorrect did not change the spelling. You’re lying.

Not too long ago, Trump senior had to face considerable ridicule after he used the word ‘heel’ instead of heal.
