When Krushna Abhishek of The Kapil Sharma Show took to Instagram to share a photo of himself with Akshay Kumar to promote the latter’s latest release Laxmii, little did he realise that his decision would backfire so spectacularly. Not only did he face brutal trolling, but his social media post also triggered calls for the boycott of Akshay Kumar’s film, also featuring actress Kiara Advani, who’s a childhood friend of Isha Ambani, the daughter of Mukesh and Nita Ambani.
In his social media post, Krushna had written, “Guys I have never been so excited for any film but today really wanna see Laxmi bomb ? do watch it streaming from now akshay sir love u this is gonna be a super hit ❤”
No sooner did Krushna share his post, he began to face criticism from fans, who appeared incensed over the comedian-actor still referring to Akshay’s film with its controversial name. One wrote, “ou are not updated ?♂️?♂️?♂️ it’s Laxmii NOT LAXMI BOMB.. Sirf post karne ki jaldi hai.” Another commented, “Laxmi not laxmi bomb.” ” its Laxmii.. edit your caption,” wrote another fan.
Many angry fans also called for the boycott of the film.
The film was originally called Laxmi Bomb, but the makers were later forced to change the name to Laxmii following protests from Hindu groups, who felt that the original title of the movie hurt their religious sentiments.
Directed by Raghava Lawrence, the film has Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in lead roles. This is the Hindi remake of Tamil superhit Kanchana, which was also directed by Raghava Lawrence. Its producers include Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films, Fox Star Studios and Tusshar Kapoor.
Kiara is a childhood friend of Isha Ambani, the daughter of Asia’s richest businessman Mukesh Ambani. Not too long ago, she had opened up about her friendship with Isha Ambani, saying that her friendship with the billionaire heiress of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group made people forget her own struggle before she became a Bollywood star. This was because people refused to believe that a person whose best friend has been Isha Ambani could also go through a struggle.
