Kerala’s famous violinist Balabhaskar had no idea that his life will change for worse forever within a moment when he visited a temple in Thrissur last week. He along with his wife had travelled to the temple to thank God for the birth of their daughter after 15 years of marriage.
While returning from the temple last week, their car met with an accident killing the couple’s daughter. Days later, Balabhaskar too was declared dead at a hospital early in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday morning. His wife Laxmi and the driver are still fighting for their lives in the hospital.
The accident had taken place last Tuesday at Pallipuram on the outskirts of the capital city.
Balabhaskar and family were returning from the temple when their driver lost control of the car at around 4.30 am in the morning. According to police, the driver lost control because he dozed off briefly and rammed into a tree. The 40-year-old musician’s daughter Tejaswini Bala was declared dead soon after she was brought to hospital last week.
Days later, Balabhaskar too died of cardiac arrest. According to media reports, his last rites will be performed later today. His body will be kept for the public to pay their last respects at a Thiruvananthapuram college where he studied.
The artist had shot to fame at the age of 17 after he composed music for a Malayalam film.
Tributes have been pouring in for the talented musician. Playback singer Vineeth Srinivasan wrote, “Thank you for the advices you gave me Balu etta.. It’s really really hard to believe the news.. It was an honour knowing u, performing with u.. You were a genius.. your performances will always be remembered.. and ur smile will stay in people’s hearts..”
