Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Kartik Aryan felt that his career in Bollywood had finally taken off after he received a call from Karan Johar for a possible role in his next film starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.

Karan had reportedly called Kartik merely to discuss the idea and no formal offer was made or contract signed. But, an ecstatic Kartik and his teal allegedly went around the town informing everyone that he had bagged a role opposite Kareena in Karan’s next big project.

Irked by the rumour-mongering on the part of Kartik’s team, Karan’s Dharma Productions reportedly admonished him and said that no future conversations will take place with him. A website quoting a source in Dharma said that Karan’s company had merely ‘sent feelers regarding a possible role, but it was nothing concrete.” The sources further added that Kartik’s team ‘messed it up by releasing reports that the actor had been signed by Karan Johar when no such thing had happened.’

What also left Karan Johar infuriated was because Kartik’s team reportedly began telling everyone that ‘he was going to be paired opposite Kareena’ when Bebo was actually paired with Akshay in the film.

In March this year, Kartik had shared a small video with Kareena with the caption, “Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani.” The video was shot at a fashion show in Singapore, where the two had walked the ramp fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

Manish Malhotra too had posted their photo together but had chosen to not write any caption.

Deccan Chronicle website also said that Kartik had reportedly asked for bigger remuneration package from Karan during his meeting. “He thinks he’s an A-list star now, and that he should be paid accordingly. Sadly, the producers don’t agree,” the website quoted a source from Dharma Productions.

Kartik was in news recently for reportedly hiking his fee to Rs 3 crore for the third part of Pyar Ka Punchnama. However, later the actor had clarified while dismissing the report. He was quoted by IANS, “There hasn’t been discussion between me and Luv (Ranjan) sir about money. So, I don’t know from where these kind of news (reports) are emerging. We both have started our respective careers together so there hasn’t been discussion about money and it will never be in the future as well. I just want to clarify that there is nothing wrong between me and Luv (Ranjan) sir. I think we both are same as we used to be earlier.”
