Sambit Patra receives sincere request from Kanhaiya Kumar in exposing Modi’s fake promises

Kanhaiya Kumar, who is contesting from the Begusarai parliamentary constituency on a CPI ticket, has requested BJP’s Sambit Patra to travel across India so that claims of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s fake achievements could be truly exposed.

Sambit Patra

Referring to Patra’s recent photos of sharing a meal with local residents of Puri, Kumar said that photos of the BJP leader during his campaign had exposed several claims of the Modi government. He wrote, “There’s a BJP spokesperson, who exposes the success of (Modi government’s) Ujjwala scheme when he shares a meal with someone during his campaign. His other photos expose the success of Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. I sincerely hope that he (Patra) tours the entire country. What could be better than a BJP leader exposing the fake claims of his own party?”

Patra has had to face plenty of criticism since he posted videos of his meal at the house of a widow in Puri, where he’s contesting this year’s Lok Sabha polls on a BJP ticket. The video had shown the widow prepare a meal using traditional firewood and not the LPG cylinder that the Modi government has claimed to provide to most poor households in the country.

Later, the widow had reportedly claimed that while her family had received the gas cylinder under the Ujjwala scheme, she preferred to cook using firewood.

More recently, a doctored photo of Patra eating food with a homeless had prompted his critics to attack the controversial BJP leader arguing that he had exposed several schemes of the Modi government in a single photo. A report by fact-checking website Boomlive said that the photo in question (see below) was fake.

Meanwhile, Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has wished Patra a success in his debut electoral fight for the Lok Sabha polls. Taking to Twitter, Kapoor, who’s currently undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness in the US, wrote, “This is to wish and bless my friend Sambit Patra all the best and success in the coming elections!”

This year’s Lok Sabha polls will be held in seven phases and the counting is scheduled for 23 May.
