Nita Ambani, the owner of IPL champions Mumbai Indians, hosted a lavish Diwali party at the Jio World Centre in the western Indian city on Thursday. Prominent among those who attended the evening bash were Rohit Sharma, the hero of the just-concluded India-South Africa Test series, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Hardik Pandya, Nita Ambani’s daughter-in-law Shloka Mehta, Akash Ambani, Isha Ambani and her husband Anand Piramal. However, Jasprit Bumrah’s absence did not go unnoticed on social media prompting one fan to ask if he was moving to the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the coming season.
One fan asked on Twitter, “Where is Bumrah? i think he is changing to RCB?” RCB is led by Indian captain Virat Kohli. Mumbai Indians did not confirm or deny the speculations on Bumrah possibly switching his loyalty in the coming season of the IPL. It simply posted a cryptic gif of its captain Rohit Sharma with a caption that read, “Stay calm.’

If rumours on Bumrah severing ties with Mumbai Indians are indeed true, then it will be a huge blow to Nita Ambani’s team. Not too long ago, she had told an audience in London how her team was instrumental in spotting the raw talent of Bumrah, who was forced to live a poverty-stricken life with his mother in Ahmedabad. A video played by Nita had shown Bumrah’s mother narrate her days of hardships when she couldn’t even afford a Nike shoe for her son due to her poverty.
Bumrah’s mother was heard saying, “He (Bumrah) has seen me struggle financially and physically… We had gone to the Nike shoes shop and I would not be able to afford that shoe. He saw that shoe and..” The mother’s voice gets choked in the video as she’s unable to recount her painful past. Bumrah then prods his mother saying, ‘It’s ok. It’s fine.”

Nita Ambani’s Mumbai Indians had defeated Chennai Super Kings to lift this year’s IPL competition. However, one of the most talked-about aspects of the IPL final was Nita Ambani herself after she was seen fervently chanting mantras in the last couple of overs of the match.
