Bollywood heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor may have found his real love in Alia Bhatt after dating Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif, but not many would know that his future father-in-law Mahesh Bhatt had a very low opinion about Ranbir’s character. In an old TV programme hosted by Karan Johar, Mahesh Bhatt had once called Ranbir a ‘ladies’ man.’
Mahesh Bhatt had appeared on Koffee With Karan with his actor-nephew Emraan Hashmi in 2014. In the rapid-fire round, Bhatt was expected to react to every word uttered by Karan. When Karan said ‘reality show,’ Bhatt replied, “No reality at all.” The famous Bollywood director was then asked to suggest the names of biopics on three Bollywood actors namely Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.
On Salman Khan, Bhatt suggested that the future biopic on his life should be named “My Name Is Khan.” When Karan mentioned Ranbir Kapoor’s name, Bhatt replied instantly, “Ladies’ Man.” On Aamir, he said that the biopic on Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist will be called ‘My experiment with truth.’
In the same programme, Bhatt had also said that he disapproved his fraternity’s ‘pathetic lust for the Oscars.’ Bhatt had also lamented that Alia had become invisible since she became a star. “The powers to become invisible. I don’t see her nowadays after she became a star,” Bhatt replied when asked what one superpower he would assign to his daughter.
The said interview was broadcast nearly five years ago. Ranbir had begun dating Katrina Kaif after splitting with Deepika Padukone, who, according to several reports, had caught him of cheating on her.
A Ladies man is deemed to be a person, who is not loyal to one woman and enjoys the company of multiple women. He likes to give attention to more than one woman and prefers to spend time with them. So, Mahesh Bhatt’s description of his future son-in-law may not flatter Ranbir since the veteran filmmaker appears to be questioning his character.
Time and again, Ranbir has given us hints about his deep love for Alia, who too has reciprocated her feelings for him on more than one occasion. Both Ranbir and Alia will be seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, which also features Amitabh Bachchan and is scheduled for release next year.
