In a first, KBC contestant dislodges ‘speechless’ Amitabh Bachchan from his seat before suffering heartbreak

In a first, a KBC contestant on Tuesday night dislodged Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan from his seat before suffering a heartbreak. Chandni Modi from Gujarat, an employee with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, was the guest on Sony TV’s popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

Moments after she won the fastest finger first round, the contestant told Bachchan that taking part in the KBC was her dream but her next ambition was to occupy the KBC host’s chair. This left Bachchan speechless for a few seconds before he got up from his seat and walked towards the contestant.

While asking the contestant to occupy his chair, Bachchan said, “No, no, I have to fulfill your dream.” The contestant, who was left embarrassed by Bachchan’s act, said that this is not what she meant adding that she wanted to become as great as the Bollywood superstar. But Amitabh Bachchan had made up his mind to let the contestant occupy his chair. “No, I wouldn’t agree to it. You’ve said it. You have to come here. You have to sit here,” Bachchan insisted.

Seconds later, Bachchan said smilingly, “Now get off my chair quickly.” The episode evoked a round of applause from the audience.

The contestant, who was playing incredibly well, suffered a heartbreak as she lost more than Rs 9 lakh by incorrectly answering a question for Rs 25 lakh. The question for Rs 25 lakh was, “Who has been the youngest Chief Minister of Maharashtra so far?” The four options were Sharad Pawar, Vilasrao Deshmukh, Devendra Fadnavis and Ashok Chavan. The correct answer was Sharad Pawar, who had become the state’s chief minister at the age of 37, but the contestant from Gujarat asked Bachchan to lock Fadnavis. She had already won Rs 12.50 lakh but her wrong answer brought down her winning prize money to Rs 3.20 lakh.

Chandni said that she had joined the show with her husband Dipen Modi, parents and in-laws. She told Bachchan that her in-laws were one of the biggest fans of the Bollywood megastar and the family had already won Rs 7 crore since they had met him in person.

  1. I watched the show. Chandani was okay at the end! You report that she suffered a heart attack! At lease have curtesy to report her final condition thereafter rather than leaving the story hanging! Seems like the intent is not to reveal the event aptly but to invoke sensationalism in this report! Unprofessional journalism!
