IAS topper Athar Aamir Khan recites Iqbal’s poetry to thunderous applause

After wife Tina Dabi Khan dominating the social media space with her ever-increasing popularity, it seems it’s not the turn of IAS topper Athar Aamir Khan to wow the audience. A video of Athar, who secured the all India 2nd ranking in the same year when Tina topped the civil services exams, reciting Iqbal’s poetry to a thunderous applause has gone viral now.

Athar Aamir Khan

In the video posted by Athar, the IAS officer is seen reciting a famous poetry of the legendary Urdu poet. Athar’s recitation at an event goes, “Mohabbat Ki Tamanna Hai To Phir Wo Wasf Paida Kar! (Wasf means quality). Jahan Se Ishq Chalta Hai Wahan Tak Naam Paida Kar ! Agar Sacha Hai Mere Ishq Main To Ay Bani Adam! Nigha-e-Ishq Paida Kar Jamal-e-Zarf Paida Kar! (If you are longing for love, then develop a special quality within you. Increase your popularity to the place, from where the love starts. Oh children of Prophet Adam, if you are sincere in your love for me, then prove it through your eyes and by developing qualities of tolerance.)”

These lines led to a thunderous applause from the audience. However, Athar had to remind that there were more lines in the poetry. He continued, “Main Tujh Ko Tujh Se Ziyada Aur Sub Se Ziyada, Chahoonga, Magar Shart Ye Hai Ki Apne Andar Meri Justuju To Paida
Kar! Agar Na Badlon Teri Khatir Har Ek Cheez To Kehna, Tu Apne Aap Main Pehle Andaz-e-Wafa To Paida Kar. (I will love you more than you love yourself and others love, but the condition is that you develop that urge that you want me badly. I will change everything for you only if you incorporate the quality of loyalty in you).”

Athar posted the video of his poetry recitation with a caption that read, “These lines have been super favorite!!” His fans loved the revelation that the young IAS topper was also an admirer of Iqbal’s Urdu poetry.

One fan wrote, “Love lesson from our sdm (Sub-Divisional Magistrate)” Athar recently received his full-time posting as the SDO, an SDM equivalent posting in Bhilwara. His IAS topper wife Tina is also posted in the same city as the SDM.

Another fan wrote, “Not only are the lines of Iqbal’s poetry are iconic, your style of delivery too is awesome.” Another fan commented, “My only hope is people are able to look beyond its apparent meaning…and don’t start to apply this to only their romantic lives!”

Last week, Athar had received a big approval from his wife after he posted of his field work. Tina had taken to social media to write, “So proud of you! Keep up the good work.”
