‘Hurt’ Janhvi Kapoor lashes out at newspaper for ‘propagandist’ article on Pulwama terror attack, evokes strong reactions

Actress Janhvi Kapoor on Saturday said that the terror attack in Pulwama that killed 42 CRPF soldiers had left her incredibly hurt. The Dhadak star took to Instagram to express her anguish and lashed out at a newspaper for carrying a ‘propagandist’ article over the Thursday’s attack.

Janhvi said that what upset her the most was that ‘our men didn’t even get the chance to fight for themselves.’ She wrote, “The reasons to be angered and hurt are plenty. The one that upsets me the most is that our men didn’t even get the chance to fight for themselves.”

She then shifted her attention to a report published by a Pakistani newspaper The Nation. She said, “The second photo is of a propagandist article that is celebrating this terrorist attack as a fight for freedom. It’s tragic and irresponsible that the truths of such a condemnable act are being distorted by the media to suit their political agendas.”

Janhvi added, “These men have been robbed of not just their lives but also the respect that they deserve as protectors of a nation. Let’s pray for the souls of our brave men and for the strength of their families.”

It seems the young Bollywood star has mistaken The Nation of Pakistan as one of the Indian publications. Had she known that the newspaper in question was a Pakistani publication, she would have known that there’s nothing new for the media across the border to run such propaganda against India.

Janhvi’s post evoked strong reactions from her followers on the social media platform, where one user wrote, “This is Pakistani newspaper…i don’t know what the hell happened to them…they our celebrating this….nd here in our country of those soldiers who died…their families are crying not sleeping…they lost everything.”

“Of course ‘occupied Kashmir’. Kashmiris always wanted Indian Army to leave Kashmir and live their lives without any fear of getting killed or tortured,” another user commented. Another user wrote, “The first and only genuine comment from some one belonging to the Bollywood film industry.”

The deadliest terror attack on the CRPF convoy in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday had left 42 members of the Indian paramilitary forces dead.

On the professional front, Janhvi will be seen in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer TakhtHer debut film Dhadak was a blockbuster with the film collecting more than Rs 100 crore at the box office.
