India’s defeat in the World Cup match against England on Sunday has been dominating social media conversations with experts and fans debating the possible reasons for India’s poor performance. Reacting to India’s loss, Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi implied that the reason for the national team’s dismal showing may have been linked to their decision to play in saffron jersey as opposed to their traditional colour blue. This has made her a target of incessant trolling on social media.
Huma’s social media post had read, “Not superstitious at all .. but can we please have the Blue jersey back .. enough said.”

Her comments did not go down well with those supporting the new saffron colour jersey donned by the Indian team on Sunday.

Batting first, England had posted 337 runs in 50 overs. But, India failed to chase the target successfully, falling short of 31 runs. Rohit Sharma scored his third century of the World Cup while Mohammad Shami took the first 5-wicket haul of his ODI career.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav came for criticism for not accelerating the run-rate even when India had plenty of wickets in hand.
