A Hindutva troll, who gained fame for being endorsed by Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, is facing backlash on social media after she chose to mock the choice of clothes of AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Shefali Vaidya, known for spewing venom against India’s minorities, on Wednesday posted two photos of Priyanka to claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had forced an otherwise modernly dressed Congress leader to become religious. She tweeted, “Wah! @narendramodi ne kaise kaise logonko Sanskari banake Mandir jana seekha diya!”
The photo of Priyanka praying at a temple was taken in Varanasi, where she reached after a three-day boat ride as part of attempts to revive the Congress in the eastern Uttar Pradesh. While in Varanasi, Modi’s parliamentary constituency, Priyanka had also prayed at the famous Assi ghat.
Vaidya’s tweet did not go down well with social media users at large and Congress supporters in particular, who found her social media post in poor taste. AICC member Amrita Dhawan wrote, “This tweet for sure shows yours #Sanskar Never expected such tweet to come from a woman itself. I wonder what kind of teachings your triplets be getting. If such are ur thoughts. One of the most cheapest tweet of recent time. Stooping to such level to gain attention is sickening.”
Another Congress functionary Pankhuri Pathak commented, “I am more worried about her triplets asking her the story of their birth because I have heard that she has made up different stories related to it. Vaise bhi sanghi women are inherently misogynistic.
The only reason they are on sangh payroll is that they abuse other women.”
Other social media users were quick to post old photos of Modi and Union Minister Smriti Irani, who too dressed modernly during her time as a model and TV actress. They asked Vaidya who had driven Modi and Irani to become ‘sanskari.’

Last year, Amitabh Bachchan had endorsed Vaidya’s controversial views on Goa Inquisition and how Hindus were allegedly persecuted by the erstwhile Portuguese rulers of the western coastal state.
