Remember the famous scene (watch below) from 1982 Bollywood blockbuster Namak Halaal, where a fly had become a source of annoyance to several characters causing mayhem inside a hotel room? The 1982 blockbuster directed by Prakash Mehra had Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in lead roles. Last week, the same scene was recreated on Sony TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati forcing its host Amitabh Bachchan to briefly stop the game until he had shooed away the insect.

Bachchan was in the midst of his show involving a contestant from Gujarat when he noticed a fly sitting on his computer screen. The presence of the insect seemingly prevented the Bollywood megastar from reading his question properly.

Just before Bachchan could ask the KBC contestant Surabhi Gunjan Dave her 7th question for Rs 40,000 he found a fly occupying the centre stage of his monitor, thereby preventing him from reading the question. Bachchan said, “Now the 7th question will appear on your screen, whose value is Rs 40,000. Dr Sahab, the next question is here as soon as this fly leaves.”

This caused quite a loud laughter among the audience, who were visibly amused by the presence of the insect on Bachchan’s monitor.

Bachchan tried to ask the question again but found the fly had shifted its base to the contestant’s monitor. The KBC host said, “Now, it’s gone that side.” Unbale to continue to ask his next question to Dave, Bachchan stopped his programme briefly and got up from his seat to shoo away the fly.

“This fly is annoying me,” he said while leaving his seat. While shooing away the insect, Bachchan said, “Get lost. We are discussing education and you have come to interrupt us.”

Once again the audience members were left in splits.

The contestant from Gujarat informed Bachchan that she had nine degrees as books were her best companion. “Oh my God. You have nine degrees. I’ve spent all my life and could not acquire one degree,” said Bachchan evoking huge round of laughter from the audience.
