On the night of the murder, he added, the tailor, identified as Rahul, had arrived at her house on the pretext of showing a newly stitched dress.

Rahul was accompanied by two other associates, both his relatives. The three men stabbed Lakhani to death and also killed her domestic help, identified as Bahadur Singh when he came to save her. Lakhani ran a boutique in Green Park area of Delhi.

Police were alerted about the murder after locals noticed that the security guard was missing and the main gate to her house was open. Their bodies were found in pool of blood.

Chaudhary said that the motive behind the crime was robbery. Mala Lakhani was killed with her domestic help on Wednesday night. He said, “They themselves walked to the police station and confessed to their crime. The incident took place between 10pm-12am.”
