Delhi court frames rape charges against Peepli Live co-director

A Delhi court on Wednesday framed rape charges under section 375 (B) of IPC against the Peepli Live co-director, Mahmood Farooqui, for allegedly sexually assaulting an American researcher

The court said it had found enough evidence on the basis of which trial can be started against Farooqui in the sexual assault case.

Farooqui was arrested on 21 June in Delhi after a US national filed a case of rape in the city’s New Friends Colony area.

Farooqui the husband of Bollywood director Anusha Rizvi.

The couple had worked together in Aamir Khan’s much talked about Hindi movie Peepli Live.

Trial will be conducted on a daily basis because the US national in question requested, through her counsel, for the expeditious trial since her visa expires on 5 October.
