Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has reacted angrily to a video posted by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma on Sonia Gandhi against the backdrop of popular soundtrack Aati Kya Khandala.
Reacting to the video, Nirupam wrote, Mr Verma, this video is highly perverted. You must takedown this video if you claim to be civilised and cultured.”

In the video, clips of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Modi have been cleverly mixed with the popular song from Aamir Khan-starrer film Ghulaam. While the maker of the video appears to have taken Gandhi’s clips from her speeches, made in the parliament and outside, Modi’s clips are of his speeches made in the Lok Sabha.
In film, Aamir Khan was seen trying to woo the film’s actress Rani Mukherjee by asking if she would travel to Khandala, a popular holiday spot outside Mumbai.
It’s in this backdrop that Nirupam has found the video objectionable. While Varma has not taken the video down, he has been facing angry reactions on social media, where most users found his tweet in poor taste. One user wrote, “Ram Gopal Verma, is a mentally sick man.He has spoilt the lives of many talented actresses.Utterly surprised that he was not named & shamed during the MeToo movement.” Another user wrote, “Setting up new lows everyday.Shameful.”
Varma’s video has been viewed by nearly two lakh people with his tweet receiving more than 17,000 likes.
