In a shocking revelation, the father of Bigg Boss 12 contestant Jasleen Matharu has said that he was getting calls from people, advising him to indulge in honour killing of his daughter for being in a relationship with bhajan singer Anup Jalota.
Jasleen and Jolata had revealed on the launch night of Bigg Boss 12 that they were in a romantic relationship. Jasleen’s father told an entertainment portal that the news had come as a shock to him since he always thought his daughter was only learning music from Jalota.
“I have been getting calls from people I know. They are telling me ‘Hamari beti hoti, toh kaat ke phenk dete’,” Kesar Matharu told spotboye website. When asked if he was being avdised to carry an honour killing of his own daughter, he replied, “Yes.”
Kesar Matharu clarified that he was not silly to pay heed to such dangerous advice from people. He said, “And, of course, I am not silly. Such people don’t realise that they are only advising me to bring shame to myself. I will not approve of Jasleen’s relationship with Anup- but then, it’s her life. And I am not going to chain her. She will take the call what she wants to do further with her life.”
The website further quoted him as saying, “Uski bewakoofi ko meri izzat se kyun tola ja raha hai? By doing anything silly, I will only lose my respect and dignity.”
On the show, Jasleen, who has been Jalota’s student, revealed that she was in relationship with Jalota for last three years and this was the first time they had gone public about their relationship.
Jasleen, who dedicated Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam to Jalota, was later asked by the show’s host Salman Khan what song she planned to dedicate once the light went off. Pat came Jasleen’s melodious response as she began to sing Raat Akeli Hai. Her singing ability earned her instant plaudits by the Bollywood megastar.
Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was a Salman Khan-starrer blockbuster, where he had acted opposite Aishwarya Rai, his rumoured girlfriend in the past.
Aside from singing Jasleen has also tried her luck in acting after she made her debut in The Dirty Relation, a movie directed by her father, reported NewsX. She has also performed alongside popular singers like Mika Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Amjad Khan among others.
