Bollywood model-actress Esha Gupta has landed in a controversy for making racist remarks targeting an Arsenal footballer just days after her alleged ex-boyfriend Hardik Pandya was in news for misogynistic remarks made on Koffee With Karan show.
Esha posted the screenshot of one of her recent WhatsApp conversations with her friend on Instagram. In the conversation, her friend ‘Varun_Gupta17’ had written, “Solves our winger issues. I can’t see that gorilla faced (Alex) Iwobi running down the flank again. He’s so bad ya.” To which Esha had replied, “Haha… I don’t know why they don’t bench him more.”
The conversation had taken place soon after a recent game of Arsenal in the Premier League. Faced with global outrage, Esha, a known Arsenal supporter, took to Twitter to apologise. She wrote, “Guys m sorry you thought it was racist. Was bad on my part, being a sports lover. Wallah never meant it. Sorry guys forgive the stupidity.”
Her subsequent tweet read, “It was us discussing our frustration during the game.sorry as I din realise it directed towards racism.laughed over the spur of the moment, which was the games result guys.been victim of racism myself before. But this is not something m proud of. It was a fault, sorry guys.”

But her apology did not go down well with Arsenal supporters who demanded her sacking the club’s ambassador. The 33-year-old actress is the brand ambassador of Arsenal.
One user wrote, “This needs to be investigated further. A lot of us Nigerian Gooners aren’t taking it. @alexiwobi is our boy. We will not stand and watch him be dehumanised and not act. Take note @Arsenal.” Another commented, “Esha Gupta can block everyone calling her out on racism. @Arsenal time to drop this woman as an ambassador.” “How do you feel about an Arsenal brand ambassador making these racist comments about an Arsenal Academy graduate?” asked another user.
Not so long ago, her alleged ex-boyfriend Hardik Pandya had faced suspension from the team for bragging about his sexual encounters and how objectified women in general.
