Anurag Kashyap slams ‘fascist government,’ spineless Bollywood stars slammed for silence on police brutality in Jamia and AMU campuses

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has lashed out at the Centre’s Narendra Modi government calling it ‘fascist.’ He took to Twitter to express his anguish over the brutalities committed by the Delhi Police inside the Jamia Milia Islamia university campus on Sunday night.

Taking a potshot at big Bollywood stars for their silence, Kashyap wrote, “This has gone too far.. can’t stay silent any longer . This government is clearly fascist .. and it makes me angry to see voices that can actually make a difference stay quiet.”

Comedian and scriptwriter Varun Grover tweeted, “This is just shameful.”

Actor Rajkumar Rao wrote, “I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest.I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!”

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha wrote quoting the tweet by Rajkumar, “See this another one spine.Yes brother, speak. You feel its right, you feel its wrong but speak. They (Bollywood stars) aren’t so cute that they don’t know what’s happening in the country. Fist bump Rajkumar Rao.”

Students across the country have been facing police brutality in the last few days. They are protesting the Citizenship Amendment Bill aimed at giving automatic citizenship to every single illegal immigrant living in India except Muslims. Experts say that the BJP will declare millions of Indian Muslims stateless by bringing the controversial NRC, a controversial process through which a citizen has to prove that he or she is an Indian.
