Bollywood actor Anupam Kher on Sunday tweeted likening the political crisis in Jammu and Kashmir to the ‘Kashmir Solution.’ His tweet read, “Kashmir Solution has begun.”
His tweet came minutes after two former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, said that they had been placed under house arrests. This also coincided with reports of mobile services being suspended across Kashmir. Authorities also imposed Section 144 in Srinagar and announced closure of schools and colleges in Jammu and Kashmir until further notice.

No sooner did Kher share his ‘Kashmir Solution’ tweet, he began to face trolling from a section of journalists, who reminded him about the ‘Final Solution’ started by Hitler leading to the genocide of millions of Jews. Journalist Swati Chaturvedi wrote, “Does he know what the “final solution” signals? Do these people want genocide in Kashmir?”

One user wrote, “Disgusted to have ever liked you for your work. SHAME.” “Zero respect for someone who burns bridges rather than build them between people. Hatred only begets hatred. Good luck drowning in the hatred you have helped to spread,” commented another user.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held an emergency meeting of his cabinet at his official residence. The crisis in Kashmir started after the government abruptly cancelled the Amarnath Yatra and deployed thousands of additional troops in the valley. The Union home ministry’s decision to deploy 10,000 paramilitary personnel in Jammu and Kashmir had sparked panic in the valley and speculations of abrogation of Article 35A.
