Kaun Banega Crorepati host Amitabh Bachchan presented the final episode of his popular Sony TV quiz show on Friday. The show that gave four crorepatis this season grabbed media headlines on several occasions for quirky comments made by its host. The KBC show also prominently featured Bachchan’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai, her former rumoured boyfriend Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The final episode of the current seasons too were replete with funny comments made by Bachchan.
On one occasion, Bachchan asked the contestant from Punjab to identify the word of a song. The question was, “What are the next words in the song?” The options were Love You Dude, Hello Brother, Hello Friend and Miss You Brother.” The current answer was Hello Brother, starring Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Rani Mukerji.
After playing the audio of the title track, Bachchan asked the contestant if she wanted to listen to the song again. The contestant replied in the negative appearing to be confident about her knowledge of the film.
Bachchan, who appeared to be in a playful mood, asked the contestant, “Do you get the time to listen to songs?” She replied, “I am a fan of old songs.” “Why? you don’t like the modern-day songs?” asked Bachchan.
The contestant, a tuition teacher, replied, “I like them, but I like old songs more. I like songs from films made till your era.” This evoked quite an interesting reaction from Bachchan, who complained, “Ok, you didn’t have to make this clear. I understand that you are hinting at my age. Like I’ve become old and I’ve reached my old-age.”
This drew a round of applause from the audience, who understood that Bachchan was merely pretending to get upset by the comments made by the contestant.
Earlier, Bachchan had also complained to one contestant after she praised Aishwarya Rai’s eyes. On another occasion, the Bollywood megastar had commented about the height gap between him and his wife Jaya Bachchan.
