Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh thank Aparna Sen and others after Gully Boy sent to Oscars

Gully Boy has become India’s official entry to this year’s Oscar awards evoking overwhelming reactions from its lead characters Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. Both Ali and Ranveer posted an identical thank you note after learning that their film had been sent to the Oscars.

They wrote, “We are so thrilled that #GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

“Thank you to the Film Federation of India, Aparna Sen, Supran Sen, Anindya Dasgupta, members of the jury and a big congratulations to our spectacular cast and crew.”

Ranveer too posted the same note on his Instagram page.

Zoya Akhtar, who directed Gully Boy, was quoted by news agency ANI, “It has been a great yr&I’m overwhelmed with the response our work is getting.I’m grateful that Gully Boy has been picked as India’s official entry for Oscars. It’s crazy to receive such news days after Lust Stories received the nomination for the Emmys.”



Kalki Koechlin, who also featured in the film, tweeted, “Wow! That is just the best Saturday evening news!”

The film, which was jointly produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar, had performed exceedingly well at the box office.
