Hashtags such as #HappyBdayPMModi and #HappyBirthDayPM prominently trended on Twitter with fans and leaders posting their birthday wishes for the prime minister.
Also among those wishing Modi on his 68th birthday was Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who posted a moving video while calling the prime minister ‘man with a mission.’ Akshay, who was recently trolled for keeping quiet on the fuel price hike in contrast with his loud criticism for the Congress-led government in the past, wrote, “Wishing the man with a vision, our Honorable Prime Minister Mr. @narendramodi ji a very happy birthday. Today I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude for supporting causes that are close to my heart. Thank you and wishing you a great year ahead.”

Akshay is known to be a big supporter of the BJP and PM Modi. Modi’;s political detractors have often targeted him for his silence on issues that could potentially embarrass the Modi government. Not too long ago, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray had slammed him alleging that his two films, Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Padman were sponsored by the central government. He said that both the films starring Akshay Kumar were a covert propaganda for government schemes.
