There’s considerable media spotlight on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan every time the former Miss World is spotted at any public event. One of the most frequently discussed topics about her has always been her outfit.
This is the pitfall of being a Bollywood celebrity. In Aishwarya’s case, her being a former Miss World makes her task more challenging.
Aishwarya recently attended IMC Ladies’ Wing’s Women Entrepreneurs’ Exhibition as the chief guest. She arrived at the function, accompanied by singer Sonu Nigam and her mother. Attired in floor-length black and white anarkali with floral patterns, the former beauty queen’s outfit looked incredibly tacky as many on Instagram slammed for fashion disaster. A photo feature by India Today concluded that it was as if Aishwarya had converted her old carpet into the outfit for the event.
On Instagram, one user called it a ‘boring duplicate’ dress. Then there were those, who once targeted her being ‘fake’ and duplicate.’
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Aishwarya had reportedly rejected a film offer by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and, instead, accepted Anurag Kashyap’s film Gulab Jamun. The crack in their friendship had first emerged in 2004, when both Aishwarya and Bhansali had appeared on Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan. On the show, Aishwarya had revealed that she refused to play the role of Mastani because of Bhansali’s choice of the actor for Bajirao, which was likely to be Salman Khan.
Salman and Aishwarya had reportedly dated each other but split on an acrimonious note.
Last month Aishwarya had opened up about being body shamed after she gave birth to her daughter, Aaradhya in 2011. She had told News18, “It’s not just been post motherhood. Contextually, post motherhood, You are referring to specifically body shaming. Because you are looking at it from that aspect of the body frame changing. I am talking about the reason I was able to handle it because I have faced judgement in my life for so long.”
