PK actor Aamir Khan, who is gearing up for his role portraying ex-wrestler Mahavir Phogat in Dangal, met the wrestler’s daughters Babita and Geeta Phogat in Mumbai recently.
The actor personally ensured that everything was taken care of while the two sisters were in the city. Aamir’s spokesperson said, “Aamir was very keen to meet them, and all of their schedules finally matched. So, the girls came down to Mumbai. Aamir proved a gracious host to them. It was an emotional meeting for the trio. They discussed Mahavir’s life, what he had taught the girls and more.”
Mahavir’s daughter, Geeta Phogat won country’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling in the 55 kg freestyle category at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. The sisters flew down from Haryana to meet the actor.
Aamir’s spokesperson said, “He wants to understand Mahavir’s personality before starting to shoot the film. The trio had a long conversation, where the girls provided him with an insight into their own respective journeys and their lifestyle back home. They are staying in the city for a couple of days and are excited to see how the film will turn out.”
Aamir’s upcoming movie Dangal is a biopic based on the real-life story of the ex-wrestler. The actor had called Mahavir’s daughters to know his personal life in order to dwell into the character well and also understand the relationship the wrestler shares with his daughters.
For the film, Aamir has put on special weight to resemble the wrestler. Few days ago a video, in which, Aamir was trying some wrestling moves was released online.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal will release in 2016.
