Mansoor, who made his directorial debut with 1988 Aamir-starrer “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”, last directed “Josh” in 2000.

He was a co-producer on “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na”, which marked the acting debut of his nephew Imran Khan.

At the launch of Mansoor’s father and Aamir’s uncle Nasir Husain’s biography, the 51-year-old actor expressed his desire to have his cousin back on the director’s chair.

Aamir’s revelation came after Mansoor spoke about how was reluctant to enter films and Nasir told him, “You might go anywhere but in the end you will have to return to films because these are our roots.” At that time, Mansoor was studying MBA.

Aamir interrupted his brother and quipped, “Nowadays, I have been saying the same to Mansoor, ‘You can’t go far, you will have to return! (to filmmaking).’ I have been trying to convince him.”

Mansoor replied, “I hope, like the last time, this time also it comes true,” igniting hope in fans about his return.

Mansoor has had a short but shinning career. While he won a National Award for “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak”, his other three directorial ventures– “Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar”, “Akele Hum Akele Tum” and “Josh”– garnered audience’s love.
