An explosive account of a four-year-old daughter in Noida stunned her family as they proceeded to cremate her father after he was found hanging in Sector 93. The family had termed it a case of suicide and taken his body to perform the last rites in his native village in Bulandshahr in UP. What the little girl said showed that the killers of her father had borrowed the murder plot from the Janhvi Kapoor-starrer film Dhadak.
However, it was here when things began to unfold dramatically. While on the way for cremation, the four-year-old daughter revealed that her father had been murdered by ‘two uncles,’ who had come to meet him when he was helping her in home work.
30-year-old Raghav had married Manju in 2011 against the wishes of her parents, who had also lodged a police complaint alleging that their daughter was a minor. The couple had later fled to Gurgaon before being detained by police based on the complaint received from Manju’s parents. They were released after Manju’s documents showed that she was 21 years of age at the time of her marriage.
Raghav worked as an electrician, while Manju worked in a garment factory in Phase 2 of Noida.
The body of Santosh Raghav, according to a report by Hindustan Times, was found hanging on the terrace of his rented accommodation in Sector 93 around 8.30 pm on Saturday by his wife Manju after she returned home from work.
Seema Rana, the deceased’s sister told Hindustan Times that the family was on their way to Bulandshahr on Sunday morning for the last rites, when the girl made stunning revelations. “I was travelling in the first car with the body. The kids were following in the second car with their mother. The daughter had fallen unconscious from what we thought was shock. When she regained her senses, she told Manju that two ‘uncles’ had come to the house on Saturday evening while Santosh was helping her study,” Rana was quoted as saying.
According to Rana, her niece said that one of the killers was a ‘healthy’ man while the other being ‘thin.’ Raghav was helping his daughter with her studies when the ‘thin’ man took him upstairs before hanging him using a dupatta in front of the girl. Frightened by her father’s murder in front of her own eyes, the child fell unconscious. She only regained her senses a day later when the family was on their way to Bulandshahr. “She asked about her father and when Mamta tried to tell her what had happened, she recounted the incident,” Rana said.
The family quickly informed the Bulandshahr Police, which in turn contacted the Noida Police, which had already started its investigation into the case. Some of Raghav’s neighbours too had reportedly told the police about two men entering the deceased’s house on Saturday. With this information, the Noida Police had requested their counterparts in Bulandshahr to stop Raghav’s cremation.
The police have taken the body in their custody and sent it for autopsy. Janta Ka Reporter reached out to the police in Noida for reactions. The local SHO investigating the murder confirmed that Raghav was murdered and his body had been cremated now.
