Superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly decided to donate a whopping Rs 1 crore towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund for the Chennai flood victims on behalf of Red Chillies Entertainment that he owns and the team behind the his upcoming film “Dilwale.”
The 50-year-old “Chennai Express” star has written a letter to Jayalalithaa, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, according to sources.
The rains have left at leasts 245 people dead since 1 October , according to Tamil Nadu government. It also affected crucial road and rail links, shutdown the airport, snapped power and telecom lines.
The popular star’s generosity has struck a chord with social media users, who began to fervently tweet commending the gesture.
Such has been the response that hashtag #SRKDonates1crToChennai continued to remain a top twitter trend all throughout the afternoon on Monday. It was still trending even at the time of writing this report.
