Hindi film industry’s one of the biggest stars, Aamir Khan, continues to remain in spotlight a day after he made an astonishing revelation that his wife had suggested him to leave India because of the growing religious intolerance in the country.
His comments invited severe criticism from social media users and celebrities sympathetic to India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. Sakshi Maharaj, the motormouth BJP MP, criticised him and asked if Aamir’s wife ‘wanted to go to Taliban or Iran.’
India’s union HRD minister, Smriti Irani, said that the fact Aamir could express his opinion on India’s religious intolerance showed how tolerant India as a country was.
Aamir’s former co-star and now open supporter of the BJP and Narendra Modi, Raveena Tandon launched a scathing attack against him describing the PK star’s outburst as his hatred for India’s prime minister. She posted a series of tweets attacking Aamir. In one of her tweets she said;
