United Opposition observe black day to mark one month of demonetisation


United opposition in Delhi on Thursday marked the one month of note ban, announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 November.

Wearing black arm bands, leaders from opposition parties staged a protest outside the parliament.

The Congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi said, “Farmers are dying and PM Modi seems to be having fun. If I am allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha then I will reveal how Paytm is Pay to Modi. The idea behind cashless economy is that a few people must get maximum benefits from these transactions, this has damaged the nation.

“This is not a bold decision, it is a foolish decision which has been taken without any due consideration.”

On parliament disruption Gandhi said that the responsibility to run both the Houses were of the government and not opposition parties.

He said, “The responsibility of running the House is with the government and Speaker not the Opposition.”

Meanwhile, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu took a dig at the protesting opposition leaders and the Congress VP by saying, “Gandhi ji gave call for Satyagrah to see that victory of truth prevails. What are so-called namesake Ghandis doing? Observing protest?”

Meanwhile, the ASSOCHAM president, Sunil Kanoria said that demonetisation was having negative impact as well and the industries were suffering with people are loosing jobs.
