Police in Haryana arrested two officials, working with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Gurgaon,on Tuesday for allegedly misusing funds meant for the central government’s pet scheme.
The officials, according to IANS, have been identified as Praveen Kumar and Pravesh Sharma, both of whom were working in the Additional Deputy Commissioner V.P. Singh’s office.
They were arrested for allegedly transferring over Rs 13.5 lakh of the mission funds to people close to them.
“Kumar and Sharma were found guilty of graft and have been arrested,” Singh told IANS.
The accused have been arrested and investigations are on, senior police officer told the news agency.
Swacch Bharat Abhiyan is a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Last year, the central government had recently levied additional tax known as Swacch Bharat cess.
