Gujarat’s chief minister, Anandiben Patel, had given 250 acres of land to the business partners of her daughter Anar Patel for just Rs 15 per square metre.
Business associates of 45-year-old, Anar Jayesh Patel, got 250 acres of land near Gir lion sanctuary in the state.
A report published in Economic Times on Friday said that Wildwoods Resorts and Realties was allotted 250 acres of land by Gujarat government in 2010-11.
Two main promoters of Wildwoods Resorts, Dakshesh Shah and Amol Shripal Sheth, are business partners of Anar Patel.
The land in question was ‘gifted’ to Anar Patel’s business partners when Anandiben Patel was the revenue minister in Narendra Modi’s cabinet.
The final decision to allot such land lies with the revenue department.
The newspaper said that it had found more damning revelation surrounding Anar Patel’s business involvement with the promoters of the Wildwoods Reorts.
Although Dhanak has said that Wildwoods had applied for the land and had planned to build a tourist resort, the story doesn’t end here.
Wildwoods is owned by Parshva Texchem and Anil Infraplus Ltd. Shockingly, Anar Patel has substantial stakes in companies where Parshava and Anil Invfraplus are co-investors.
Their business relation doesn’t end here.
Dakshesh Shah is Anar Patel’s business partner with a 50% stake in Patel’s company, Anar Project. Besides, Shah’s firm Parshva Texchem, which co-owns Wildwoods, is also a substantial shareholder in Anar Patel’s Relish Pharmaceuticals. Shah and Anar Patel are also directors in Anar Project, Relish Pharma and 24×7 Fitness.
Although, Dhanak says Wildwoods had purchased the land for tourist resort, no construction has come up in the last five years since they got the land.
Dhanak says that he later changed his mind about building a tourist resort.
Anar Patel too accepted that Shah was her business partner.
“Mr Dakshesh R Shah is one of my business partners. Mr Shah and me are joint promoters in Relish Pharma and he has invested in Relish Pharma from Parshva Texchem & Ms Renuka is investor in Relish Pharma,” Anar Patel said in an email response to ET.
This comes days after the Maharashtra’s BJP government faced embarrassment for allotting 2000 square metre land in post area of Mumbai to the party MP Hema Malini for just Rs 70,000.
BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had made the alleged land grab by Robert Vadra during the UPA government a huge election issue.
These revelations will give credence to the BJP’s critics, who’ve accused the party of being equally corrupt.
